A few observations from Chicago

  • Chicago's commuter train (Metra) still has old-fashioned ticket booths (cash only) and no ticket machines. Wow.

  • Marnie & I stopped by The Berghoff for a beer, only to find that it has closed down. No one tells me anything.

  • We bought a camera here yesterday. Dammit, this is going to be the last one we ever need to buy. At least until our next trip. I'm on my Blackberry and can't post pictures right now, but we spent awhile yesterday testing it out in Millennium Park.

  • Three of the hottest selling cell phones are the Razr, the Rokr and the Slvr. Evidently, people love to talk on high-tech phones so much that they have no time left to spell out whole words. (This has nothing to do with Chicago, except that we've walked by about 10 million billboards for the Slvr.)

NPR did a story in December as well. Seems like everybody was trying to let you know.
