Utica-style steamed hams
At Matchbox DC, the dish to get is an appetizer: the Mini Burgers. SAL laughs at me when I take picture of food, but look — now her birthday dinner is documented.(Below) The third Mini Burger on the plate is blocked by the fries.

Everyone knows that those "fries" are actually fried onions, or as the menu says: "onion straws."

This reminds me of a place in Happy Valley that sold steamed hamburgers. I think it has closed, despite being 2005's "best new restaurant." I consider it a lost opprutunity.

Watertown-style steamed hams are actually little pine tree air fresheners on a bun. And I'm sure a lot of longtime Watertown residents are sitting back laughing their *sses off at this. :-)
