Funny, "chatted her up" to me means you hit on her. Now, I'm fairly certain you weren't trying to hit on her, but am I the only one who interprets the phrase this way?
Also, is that your favorite shirt?
Hey, the two pictures with me in that shirt were taken about an hour apart! (But yes, I like that shirt.)
Meanwhile, I suppose I may be using the phrase "chatted her up" incorrectly.

I believe "chatted her up" is just a folksier way of saying "chatted with her."
"Chatted her up" is British slang for hitting on someone.
Thanks to help from my British experts, I have removed the phrase from this post.
interesting--i have never heard "chatted up" used in any sense other than eagerly having a conversation with someone--although possibly in the sense of a fawning ,"brown-nosing" intention.
