Nothing tips like a cow

MADISON, Wis. — As we rushed to Gate 9 at Truax Field in April,1 we passed the souvenir shop and Marnie mentioned that she found this t-shirt very funny.

Later, I had time to go back to the store and buy it for her.

But I didn't. I just couldn't pull the trigger.

Instead I took this picture. Let's see if it makes her happy...

1Why didn't I post this back in April, then? Well, I forgot about it. And then I came across the photo and remembered the story.

Sigh. I still don't have the t-shirt of my dreams.

You don't want that T-shirt. Every undergraduate from Iowa with a boyfriend from Wisconsin has that T-shirt. I've seen it.

I used to have a shirt with a bunch of cheeseheads talking as they pointed to a cornhead and said, "Dan never mentioned Karen was from Iowa."

oh! That was a good Cheesehead shirt. The one that I had said "Bob forgot to put on sunscreen" with a picture of a melted wedge of cheese at the beach. Good stuff.

where did you find that

It was for sale at the souvenir shop at the Madison airport. As it happens, I passed by the store today... and it wasn't in the window.

Hi,

I saw this t-shirt when I traveled in Columbus. I want to know the meaning of the phrase "Nothing...cow". What does this mean? An US friend guessed it meant cow tipping or something like that... Thanks. JT

JT, your American friend was right.

I bought a "nothing tips like a cow" shirt from the Kansas City airport. I wear it at work occasionally but I'm currently wondering how offensive it is to wear it with about 30% of my co-workers being from India... Any thoughts?
