Charging 35 cents

In the most earth-shattering shakeup of the newspaper box industry since the 2006 introduction of the giant newspaper dispensers, new machines at the Silver Spring Metro accept credit cards.

This is an exciting development, since the biggest reason why I don't buy papers when I walk by a row of newspaper boxes is that I don't carry around spare change.

Wow, they figured this out at least five years too late, if not ten.

Wow, we all need to start our comments with wow on this one.

Could be useful on Sundays, no? Just this Sunday I wanted to buy a paper but found myself without 6 quarters.

To continue the "wow" start...Wow, what's next, Coke machine accepting credit cards? I can't understand why having a few dollars in cash is so hard for so many people. Yet these same people can't leave home without their cell phone and ipod.

Wow. So we should be able to pay for newspapers by flashing our cell phone and charging the 35 cents to our phone bill?

Hey! No credit for the 6 quarters bit in the DCist? Sure, dl004d picked up the story, but I made it real.
