Welcome to Brookland
Marnie & I have moved to a neighborhood in Northeast called Brookland.1It marks the fourth place I've lived in D.C. in nine years (the first three were in Northwest at 30th & N; 20th & Belmont; and 10th & L). Life is good here in Northeast. Actually, it's pretty darn similar except that it's harder to find a cab.
1Whenever I say "Brookland," people think I'm saying "Brooklyn." I've tried saying the word differently, but there's really no way around this confusion.

I seem to remember similar problems when I told people my doctor was located in the West End.
Brookland is a real neighborhood, named after Colonial Jehiel Brooks. West End is a made-up name for an area that should instead be called by its Metro stop (Foggy Bottom).
I mean, do people know what the word "end" means? How do you explain Georgetown being west of the West End?
If I lived in your part of town I'd want a shirt with Brookland in same script of the old Dodgers uniforms.
Ooooh, I like it!
Until [some year], Georgetown was considered a separate city within the District of Columbia. Thus, the West End was the western end of the Federal City. I assure you, it does exist even if I'm not going to do the research to prove I'm right.
i love brookland!
tuesday nights at colonel brooks is diexie land jazz by the federal jazz comission.
foggy bottom and west end are two different neighborhoods.
and josh is right about west end.
Fine. West End exists. I still content that SKBK should have found a doctor in a neighborhood with a better name.
Welcome, Scenic Artisan!
