John Raese is one of four Republicans vying to run against eight-term Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.).

Raese's newest radio ad features the late President Reagan saying: "I need John Raese to help me in the United States Senate."

(The clip was recorded in 1984 during Raese's failed bid for the same seat.)

Well of course what Republican candidate in his/her right mind would want to have the current president or other prominent Republicans helping with the campaign. Still, that's just creepy.

When something goes unused or becomes obsolete, it's said to become a paperweight. Is your cellphone slow and out of date? It's become a paperweight. Is your laptop too slow to use? It's become a paperweight. Do you never use your Apple Vision Pro? It's become a paperweight. Weirdly, paper itself has become a paperweight. People do their work on laptops, tablets, and phones. Most homes don't have printers. Not only do we not need paperweights, we barely need paper!
