Big Russ



Everyone I see looks like someone else. That's just the way it is for me.

At the National Portrait Gallery the other day, I made the following decisions:
  • Lewis Morris (a Declaration of Independence signatory) looks like Tim Russert.

  • William Beckman (an artist seen above in a self-portrait) looks like John Michael Higgins. For that matter, he looks like David Letterman. However, Marnie thinks he looks more like Robert Redford.

coming from the area of the bronx known as morrisania i have long had some acquaintance with stories of the morris family but mostly with lewis morris' brother gouverneur morris (pronounced gooverneer--at least by my grade school teachers). is there a portrait of gouverneur in the gallery?

I've always thought USC cheerleaders were pretty classy (to the extent that such a classification is possible in the cheerleading world). They wear long-sleeved white turtlenecks, rather than the skimpy tops donned by most cheerleading teams. But yesterday I discovered that a USC Song Girl named Megan Ramer doesn't wear underwear. Britney Spears, are you responsible for this?

Paperweights have become paperweights

When something goes unused or becomes obsolete, it's said to become a paperweight. Is your cellphone slow and out of date? It's become a paperweight. Is your laptop too slow to use? It's become a paperweight. Do you never use your Apple Vision Pro? It's become a paperweight. Weirdly, paper itself has become a paperweight. People do their work on laptops, tablets, and phones. Most homes don't have printers. Not only do we not need paperweights, we barely need paper!
