In praise of FedEx Field

LANDOVER, Md. — For years, I hated FedEx Field for being in the middle of nowhere and for being difficult to get to. Now that I know it's on the Metro, it's time I acknowledge that it's a pretty nice stadium.

It is not a bad walk at all. It would be too far for any other sport, but for a football game, it is tolerable. It reminds me of walking across campus to Beaver Stadium, just without all the buildings and people.

The bus shuttle from Addison Road was not a bad way to go either, though this is better.

Well, it's about 10 minutes from the stadium parking lot. That's much better than packing yourself into the shuttle and getting stuck in traffic.

I don't understand why it's tolerable for football but not for other sports.

I'm not sure what WFY meant, but I myself would dedicate an entire day to a football game, something I wouldn't do for a baseball game.

dl004d: That is a better way of saying what I meant.

IIRC, the bus shuttles had their own way in and out of the parking lot, so they did not have too much in the way of traffic problems. They were much better than driving, though not as good as walking from the Morgan Blvd. station.
