Somewhere along the way, the Phoenix Suns changed their logo from the image on the left to the one on the right.

As you can see, the team has adopted the city's airport code as its moniker.

In a sports world filled with guys named T-Mac, C-Web, D-Wade, J-Kidd and A-Rod... it's not surprising that the need arose to abbreviate our city names too.

I like airport codes. But if this trend continues, we'll get some confusing matchups, like EWR vs. MSY. (You know, New Jersey Nets vs. New Orleans Hornets.)

What happens with cities that have two airports? What about the Redskins, who play in Md. and train in Va. near Dulles?

Also, if the Nets actually do move to Brooklyn from East Rutherford, what would they do? As noted in one of the many books lamenting the loss of the Dodgers, Brooklyn is the only "city" without its own daily newspaper, baseball team or airport.
