Feed the beast

The venerable Newsweek magazine announced today that it will merge with The Daily Beast, a two-year-old news and opinion website. Moving forward, Newsweek will exist online only as part of The Daily Beast's website.

I understand Newsweek's desire to grow its online presence, but is The Daily Beast the best option?

Newsweek.com has 3.9 million unique monthly visitors, compared to 1.55 million for thedailybeast.com, according to data cited in the Washington Post.

It sounds to me that The Daily Beast's website should be incorporated into Newsweek's, not the other way around.
