Pass the ice cream salad
The Washington Post has an article today titled "Why Salad Is So Overrated."
Lettuce, it seems, "occupies precious crop acreage, requires fossil fuels to be shipped, refrigerated, around the world, and adds nothing but crunch to the plate."
But that's lettuce. What about salads, which is what the headline calls out? There's pasta salads and grain-based salads and watermelon/feta salads. Clearly we've decided that "salad" just means "stuff mixed with stuff." And how can that be overrated?
