Pregdar on Felicity

Perhaps Marnie's ability to spot pregnant actresses on TV, which I call pregdar, isn't as sharp as I thought.

She watched the last two episodes of Scrubs without sensing that Keri Russell (who plays Elliot's sorority sister Melody) is pregnant.

In my defense--I am best when it's a main character who goes from a variety of shots, to camera shots from the neck up, and who wears big baggy coats all the time a la Elaine Bennis. Kerri Russell was only on Scrubs for 2 episodes, and was a side character for the main plot line of this spring.

In further defense of Marnie's pregdar, Keri Russell certainly couldn't play a flirtatious sorority sister in a muumuu. The show probably wrapped well before she needed baggy-wear (she just announced in January).

This is kind of a douchebag topic. Pregnancy or no pregnancy, KR is one heck of a specimen and it would be infinitely difficult to notice a difference in her body during her first 2 months.

And anyway, first time pregnant women who have well-toned bodies tend to show later. So there.

I've always thought USC cheerleaders were pretty classy (to the extent that such a classification is possible in the cheerleading world). When something goes unused or becomes obsolete, it's said to become a paperweight. Is your cellphone slow and out of date? It's become a paperweight. Is your laptop too slow to use? It's become a paperweight. Do you never use your Apple Vision Pro? It's become a paperweight. Weirdly, paper itself has become a paperweight. People do their work on laptops, tablets, and phones. Most homes don't have printers. Not only do we not need paperweights, we barely need paper!
